Malakoff Interstate Fellowship Ride

This is STRICTLY a road bike event. NO HELMET NO RIDE.
Over 700 cyclists from around Malaysia are expected to brave the 210 km Malakoff Inter-state Fellowship Ride 2009 covering the three states of Penang, Perak and Kedah. The two-day Ride spans over 31 December 2009 and 1 January 2010, covering challenging terrains of 149 km and 71 km, respectively.
The Ride is sponsored by Malakoff Corporation Berhad (Malakoff) and is part of the Company’s flagship corporate social responsibility platform – the Malakoff Community Partnerships. Through this Ride, Malakoff aims to combine sports and healthy living with community outreach. While the participants peddle into the dawn of 2010 traversing the scenic 13-km Penang Bridge with a reinforced commitment to healthy lifestyles, they also aim to raise RM 20, 000 for charity organisations that will be announced during the event launch.
The Malakoff Inter-state Fellowship Ride 2009 is jointly organised by State Government of Penang and Penang State Sports Council with technical expertise from the Knights of the Round Table (KOTRT) and Maju Ke Hadapan Cycling Group (MKH). The ardours Ride will witness cyclists of various age groups come together notwithstanding their diverse backgrounds.
To ensure a smooth and safe ride, authorities from Juru Auto City, Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM), KTM Motonation, Royal Malaysian Police Majlis Perbandaran Pulau Pinang and Majlis Perbandaran Seberang Perai (MPSP), Delta Business Solutions and Olympic Sports & Fitness will be working together to extend necessary support.Entry fee is RM30.00, non-refundable. Entry fees collected will be channeled to charitable organisations. Come ride with us and be the first to cross the newly completed 6 lane Penang Bridge, on a bicycle. Ride with a cause.
The launch of the event would take place at G Hotel on the 17th November 2009 at 10.00am. A trial ride will be conducted on the 1st November 2009, starting at Auto City( N05º20.249’ E100º25.696’ ), Seberang Perai, 7.30am. Marshals will escort the ride. If you need a support car, make your own arrangement. Come join us and have great fun.

It’s the last cycling event of 2009 and also the opening cycling event for the year 2010. Come and join us cycle through Pulau Pinang, Kedah and Perak in a single day. See the rustic kampung scene you have almost forgotten. Check out roads forgotten by motorist and do it VIP style, escorted.
Day 1, 31 December 2009, will take you through 149km of rustic kampung charm. The road is flat without major climb and best of all it is shaded almost 80% of the route. With 2 feeding stops and 1 water stop thrown in, it is definitely a doable ride for cyclists of all levels.
Day 2, 1 January 2010, will take cyclists across Penang Bridge, which prohibits bicycles from crossing and best of all you would be the first to cycle across the newly face lifted bridge. The 71km route will take you around Penang Island passing through roads that allow you to look at Penang from a very different angle.
Experienced Marshals from PDRM with credential of marshalling the Le Tour de Langkawi will be rope in to ensure you a VIP ride
For RM30.00, which is an obsolete amount for any rides nowadays, you’ll get goodies from Powerbar, Nestle, Suntonic, and a cool participant T-shirt. To add value to your money, your registration fees will be donated to charitable organisations.
